All 49 Gāyatrī stotras and mantras

Gāyatrī is the name of a Vedic metre of three lines of eight syllables, and above all of one verse in that metre: Ṛgveda 3.62.10, the prayer to Savitṛ, the divine Sun, revealed to the sage Viśvāmitra. Over time the verse itself came to be worshipped as a goddess, Gāyatrī, called Vedamātā, the Mother of the Vedas.

She is usually shown with five faces and ten arms, seated on a lotus, and is meditated on in three forms through the day: as Gāyatrī at dawn, Sāvitrī at noon and Sarasvatī at dusk. Her mantra is the heart of the daily sandhyāvandanam and of the upanayana, the sacred-thread ceremony.

Stotras, mantras and names of Gāyatrī on this site are listed below, each with Devanagari, transliteration and meaning.
