Type Sanskrit in Devanagari without installing anything: tap the letters on the on-screen keyboard, or switch on phonetic typing and write in English letters (namaste → नमस्ते). The transliteration appears under your text, and Copy puts it on your clipboard.
How to type a syllable
Tap a consonant, then a vowel sign: क + ि = कि (ki). A consonant on its own carries the vowel a (क = ka). To join consonants, put the virāma ् between them: क + ् + ष = क्ष. Anusvāra ं and visarga ः go after the syllable.
Phonetic typing
With phonetic typing on, each word you type in English letters becomes Devanagari when you finish it with a space or punctuation. Use capitals for long vowels and retroflex letters (Harvard-Kyoto): A = आ, I = ई, U = ऊ, R = ऋ, T D N = ट ड ण, S = ष, and sh or z = श. For example rAma → राम, kRSNa → कृष्ण, zrI → श्री.
