Verse 20

Your moon-pure face makes every blemish wholly favourable; would the lovely women of Indra’s city turn away from such a one? My conviction, O treasure of Shiva’s name, is this: what can Your grace not accomplish?, glory to you, O slayer of Mahishasura, lovely with beautiful locks, O Daughter of the Mountain!

Commentary

Verse 21

ayi mayi dīna dayālutayā kṛpayaiva tvayā bhavitavyamume ayi jagato jananī kṛpayāsi yathāsi tathānumitāsirate |yaducitamatra bhavatyurarī-kurutādurutāpamapākurute jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramya kapardini śailasute || 21||

O Uma, towards me, the wretched, You must surely be moved by tender compassion; O Mother of the world, You are as merciful as You are conceived to be. Do here what is fitting, take me as Your own and drive far this grievous suffering, glory to you, O slayer of Mahishasura, lovely with beautiful locks, O Daughter of the Mountain!

Commentary

Verse 22

stutimimāṃ stimitaḥ susamādhinā niyamato yamatonudinaṃ paṭhet |paramayā ramayā sa niṣevyate parijano'rijano'pi ca taṃ bhajet ||

Whoever, calm and self-controlled, recites this hymn daily with deep concentration and discipline, he is served by supreme Lakshmi herself, and even his foes, like his own kin, come to honour him.

Commentary
