1 / 7

Verse 1

avinayamapanaya viṣṇo damaya manaḥ śamaya viṣayamṛgatṛṣṇām |bhūtadayāṃ vistāraya tāraya saṃsārasāgarataḥ ||1||

O Viṣṇu, take away my arrogance, tame my mind, quench the mirage-thirst for sense objects. Widen my compassion for all beings, and carry me across the ocean of saṃsāra.

Verse 2

divyadhunīmakarande parimalaparibhogasaccidānande |śrīpatipadāravinde bhavabhayakhedacchide vande ||2||

I bow to the lotus feet of the Lord of Śrī, whose nectar is the heavenly river (Gaṅgā), whose fragrance to be enjoyed is being, consciousness and bliss, and which cut away the fear and weariness of worldly life.

Verse 3

satyapi bhedāpagame nātha tavāhaṃ na māmakīnastvam |sāmudro hi taraṅgaḥ kvacana samudro na tāraṅgaḥ ||3||

Lord, even when all difference is gone, I am yours, not you mine. For the wave belongs to the ocean; the ocean never belongs to the wave.

Verse 4

uddhṛtanaga nagabhidanuja danujakulāmitra mitraśaśidṛṣṭe |dṛṣṭe bhavati prabhavati na bhavati kiṃ bhavatiraskāraḥ ||4||

O you who lifted the mountain (Govardhana), younger brother of the mountain-breaker (Indra), foe of the demon clans, whose eyes are the sun and the moon: once you are seen, how can disregard of you, or worldly existence, still prevail?

Verse 5

matsyādibhiravatārairavatāravatāvatā sadā vasudhām |parameśvara paripālyo bhavatā bhavatāpabhīto'ham ||5||

Supreme Lord, you who descend in avatāras such as the Fish and always protect the earth: I, afraid of the heat of worldly existence, am to be protected by you.

dāmodara guṇamandira sundaravadanāravinda govinda |bhavajaladhimathanamandara paramaṃ daramapanaya tvaṃ me ||6||

Dāmodara, home of all virtues, Govinda with the beautiful lotus face, Mount Mandara that churns the ocean of becoming: take away my great fear.

nārāyaṇa karuṇāmaya śaraṇaṃ karavāṇi tāvakau caraṇau |iti ṣaṭpadī madīye vadanasaroje sadā vasatu ||7||

Nārāyaṇa, full of compassion, let me take refuge at your feet. May this ṣaṭpadī (bee) dwell for ever in the lotus of my mouth.
